I talk a lot about sharpeners, but scissors are another important cutting tool in my arsenal. For my money, no scissor is more iconic than the orange-handled Fiskars. When I think about scissors, these are the ones that pop into my mind's eye.
They almost didn't exist. When prototyping the new plastic-handled scissors, they used dye from an orange juicer that they also produced and gave the board two options, black or orange. in a 9-7 vote, the orange won and an icon was born. The orange is so vital to their brand, they've trademarked it in the countries where possible.
I didn't know they made home goods at one point in their history. Now the focus is mainly on cutting tools and things with a blade, but they used to make microwaves. What I wouldn't give for an old orange Fiskars microwave...
I have this model sitting in my pencil cup right now.
