Baron Fig Squire Click Pen Review

Baron Fig Squire Click Pen Review

I've always had a soft spot for a good ballpoint pen. My dad used those Papermate blue ballpoints for years. Back in the 80s, they weren't that bad, or at least I remember them being pretty good. During my high school years, I was a black Bic Cristal guy. Then Bic Clic Stic when I was a server in my early 20s, because they were good, but not good enough to get stolen by customers, and the clips kept the pens in the apron really well. Also, it was a pen that was often used as a marketing item, so they were usually around and free, which is 2 things most important to a server. A little later, when my main need for a pen wasn't its ability to write on thermal receipt paper, I started to branch out and found a love for gel and rollerball pens. Pens that amazed on good paper. I rarely used a ballpoint again unless I had to.

Baron Fig 'Key' Squire Pen Review

Baron Fig 'Key' Squire Pen Review

Released in conjunction with the Lock Confidant I reviewed yesterday, the Key from Baron Fig is a new Squire that has one major change from previous Squires...it's BRASS. This is the first time they've moved away from aluminum in the Squire series and while this is going to be very popular, having this in hand for the past few days I can tell it's not for me.

Baron Fig Lock Notebook Review

Baron Fig Lock Notebook Review

I don't know where exactly I said it, but I know I've said it...I've been jonesing for a dark green Confidant for a long time. And now, it is HERE. I can't tell you how happy I am, but if I ever run into any of the people from Baron Fig, I hope they expect a big high five from me. Ridiculously awesome color aside, the Lock Confidant is a very nice addition to the LE Confidant line. It's been released with a companion Squire, called the Key, which I will be writing about in a separate post tomorrow.

2018 Wish List

2018 Wish List

Oddly enough, I got a few things from my 2017 Wish List that I'll quickly recap here. Palomino didn't release a FULL TIME natural pencil with the extra firm core, but they did release one as a subscriber extra. They also brought back the Palomino HB! Field Notes did in fact release a larger edition available full time in the Pitch Black Note Book. All things I asked for in last year's wish list.

Favorites of 2017

2017 flew by, and I'm glad, because it was kind of a sucky year for nearly everyone involved. But, ultimately, it was a good year for Lead Fast. The site grew faster and bigger than I expected. I launched a shop with some stickers to help fund it, and the response was beyond what I expected...thanks to you! I couldn't have built the site without the help of some cool people in this community.

Baron Fig 2017 Recap

Baron Fig 2017 Recap

Holy crap, Baron Fig launched a TON of products this year. Where some of the other companies just stuck to what works and iterated on already established markets, Baron Fig jumped into almost everything stationery related this year. This humble author may even say too many things, and not without controversy.

Baron Fig Insightful Spectre Squire Review

Baron Fig Insightful Spectre Squire Review

The Insightful Spectre is the newest Limited Edition Squire pen from Baron Fig. On the product page, there is a cute little story about the pen. You’ll also find some nice pictures in a spooky setting. You may be a little upset when your Squire arrives and you find it’s not black like the photos, but a very dark grey with purple tones in certain light (most light, really). The photos on the Baron Fig website are black & white, it seems, so be forewarned: this pen is NOT black.

Baron Fig Archer #2 Pencil Review

Baron Fig Archer #2 Pencil Review

The #2 from Baron Fig is their 3rd entry into their limited edition Archer pencil series. As part of the New School set, it was released along with the new Composition Notebook Vanguards I reviewed yesterday. Obviously the design cues are inspired by the most popular American yellow #2 pencil, the Ticonderoga.

Baron Fig Composition Notebook Review

Baron Fig Composition Notebook Review

Baron Fig has released a new set, combining the Vanguard subscription and the Archer subscription, called the New School Set. If I'm doing my math correctly, this is the last of the Vanguard subscription releases and the third Archer. I'll be discussing the Archer in tomorrow's post; today is all about the Composition notebook.
