These are the things I carry daily.
I love a good pocket notebook. Usually, I keep these in my back left pocket and they get sat on, twisted, squished, and otherwise beat up. Field Notes is one of my favorite brands, but I've carried Moleskine, Word. Notebooks, Write Notepads, and many others. A lot of people collect Field Notes and I'm guilty of it as well, but I use them...I just have more than I'll probably ever use! As you can see in the picture above, I used a Butcher Orange (subscriber reprint) and slammed a Half Acre Beer sticker on it...so I obviously have no shame about using the rare stuff.
Timber Twist Bullet Pencil
I always carry a pencil with me...before I had this baby, I always just jammed one behind my ear, but sunglasses and ear pencils don't mix. Neither does having a nice pencil fall out of your ear and falling into a puddle, or breaking the tip, and worse: shattering the pencil lead altogether without you knowing it until you sharpen it next. Timber Twist to the rescue. Check out my review.
You never know when you're going to need to light something on fire. Isn't it odd that Bic makes the two most stolen things in the world? Lighters and pens. Zippos look cool, but guess what: they leak, they run out at the most inopportune time, and they never work as well as the one that inspired you to get one in the first place. Bic works every time, for months, until it's dry. And it warns you for about a week with low flame before it finally dies.
